The Medical Group is located in the beautiful City of Hartsville, South Carolina located in Darlington County in the Pee Dee Region. Brief Hartsville History
Hartsville was built up on the plantation of Thomas Edward Hart. A major familiy in the development of Hartsville was the Cokers. Major James Lide Coker and his family arrived in the area in the mid-1800's. They built up several businesses, constructed a railroad and founded Coker College. Later David Coker, who was an expert in agriculture, developed strains of cotton and other crops which helped the area greatly. Though agriculture was an important aspect of the economy in previous times, it is now a very small portion. Several large manufacturing and packaging plants are in the area. The H.B. Robinson Power Plant generates electricity with both nuclear and coal power.
